- What’s the problem with white liberals?
Miguel Barker-Valdez and Jack Naneek discuss whiteness as a proxy for power, rather than a mere skin color or race. Power dynamics inside society in general and churches specifically are considered. Miguel’s burden to educate the world on power and racial imbalances is broached.
In this episode Jack and Miguel also discuss the difficulty POC have with white liberals. They also discuss the new church Miguel’s wife is now attending, Ashland First Congregational United Church of Christ (The UCC), the wonderful theology that is preached and practiced there, and why Miguel attends a Spanish-speaking LDS congregation.
