Are things from Latino culture only valuable when adopted by whites?

I love Day of the dead. I’m a white…ish American but I feel that in this country we fear the dead and we don’t celebrate our ancestors enough or at all. We as a nation and “white” people need to learn what “day of the dead” really is. I’m listening to the pod cast now and I don’t understand how such a wonderful tradition gets ruined. Oh yeah, it’s greedy money worshippers . Beautiful traditions such as that need to be taught in schools in fact my daughter learned about day of the dead in her new school (more the feeling of it and honoring the dead) but she loved it.
You know, sometimes (a lot) you guys sound like you hate white people, america, and most of all the Church.
Yes, people make mistakes. Shit happens. Relax on the hate stuff. If white Americans are so stupid how about teaching them with kindness hate NEVER goes far
But I can definitely see what upsets you about that certain movie. It’s deplorable to take some so beautiful and Madriga it.
I’m in a Spanish Ward in Utah and the girls often have their quincineras at the ward building. There was a time a couple years ago that the bishop banned all quincineras, baby showers, birthdays, and even bodas because there were problems with people bringing alcohol into the church. But that got a lot of push back from the members so the ban didn’t last very long. I think he just emphasizes that no alcohol can be brought in and they need to police their guests. So its not as if the Church has banned quincineras world-wide. It depends on the region/stake/ward.
